As part of my work to promote reading for leisure, I have organised a number of author events for both children and young adults.
Children’s Events
These sessions are for everyone—Muslim and non-Muslim kids alike. We dive into my book Join Us for Ramadan with live readings and hands-on activities that engage the senses. It is a gentle, fun way to help children learn about traditions while seeing their own families and experiences reflected on the page.
Hosting and Moderation
Believing that books are most powerful when they make readers feel truly seen, Sana focuses on creating "mirrors" for both children and adults. She is the author of the bestseller Join Us for Ramadan, the first-ever sensory board book of its kind, and was awarded the 2025 PB Rising Stars Mentorship. Whether she is developing empowering picture books for young readers or writing her debut halal rom-com set between Lahore and Glasgow, Sana’s mission remains the same: ensuring that practicing, hijabi Muslim women and their families are at the center of the story.

Community Impact
I founded this fair because I wanted Scottish Muslim kids to walk into a room and be surrounded by stories that represent them. It has now become a highlight of the year, bringing together authors from all over the world to meet their readers right here in Scotland. Seeing a child’s face light up when they find a book with a name just like theirs is exactly why I do this.
